About Us

Advanced Allergy Therapeutics (AAT) is a clinically validated treatment that effectively addresses a wide range of symptoms related to allergies and sensitivities.

Safe, painless, and suitable for all ages, AAT offers a non-invasive therapeutic option that benefits both children and adults. This innovative method focuses on the connection between the body’s major organ systems and their overreactions to typically harmless substances. Importantly, AAT does not involve needles. Instead, it uses a precise form of acupressure to treat the organ systems gently and effectively. This needle-free technique makes it accessible to all.

At Total Wellness, we combine occupational therapy with gentle, non-invasive allergy treatments to help you and your family live life with fewer limits. Our holistic approach addresses the root causes of stress, sensitivities, and functional challenges — supporting improved health, performance, and daily comfort.

My Story

Brittany Matthews, MOT, OTR/L, CPAM

Start Now

My journey to find a better health and wellness started after suffering from alpha-gal, but I was unable to find any relief from the debilitating symptoms. I was referred for countless labs, scans, and appointments with specialists over the next year and a half with no answers provided. I was introduced to AAT, and after completing individualized treatments I started to feel like my old self again!

After finding relief, I looked into the AAT model even more and scheduled our kids for assessments. We all suffered significantly from environmental and seasonal allergies resulting in weekly allergy shots and ongoing need for daily antihistamines. I figured we were only getting minimal relief from these interventions so it was worth a shot to try. After receiving our treatments, we have been able to discontinue our weekly allergy shots, cancel our annual allergy appointments, and only take OTC antihistamines as needed. The best part, it was completely non-invasive and each treatment was tailored to our needs.

Allergies and their symptoms can negatively impact multiple parts of your life — they can affect sleep, school, work, play, and everyday routines. As an Occupational Therapist I'm able to assist with environmental modifications and implement strategies to create healthier daily routines. While applying this knowledge in conjunction with Advanced Allergy Therapeutics (AAT), we are able to help you and your family live a healthier and happier life with fewer restrictions!

What to Expect at the Initial Appointment

Your first appointment is focused on learning about YOU — your symptoms, environment, and how sensitivities may be affecting your daily life. The initial assessment helps us identify what your body is reacting to and how to create a customized plan to support your wellness.

Comprehensive Health Review

Your visit begins with a detailed discussion of your background and current concerns. We’ll review the following:

  • Your medical and allergy history

  • Daily routines, diet, and environmental factors

  • Any symptoms you experience (such as congestion, skin irritation, digestive discomfort, fatigue, etc.)

  • How these symptoms affect your ability to engage in meaningful daily activities (sleep, school, work, or play)

This conversation helps us understand the broader picture of how your body responds to stressors.

Non-Invasive Sensitivity Testing

Next, a gentle muscle response test is used to evaluate how your nervous system reacts to various substances or environmental signals. This process is:

  • Painless and non-invasive — no needles, medications, or skin pricks

  • Individualized — responses are unique to your body’s sensitivities

  • Immediate — providing real-time insight into possible overreactions

The goal is to identify categories (i.e. foods, pollens, animals, or environmental elements) that may be contributing to symptoms.

First Treatment

Clients receive their first AAT treatment during this visit. The treatment involves:

  • Applying light pressure along specific points of the spine

  • Exposing the body to the energetic signal of the identified substance

  • Supporting the autonomic nervous system in developing a calm, appropriate response

The procedure is safe, gentle, and suitable for all ages.

Aftercare

Following your first session:

  • You’ll be asked to avoid exposure to the treated substance for 2 hours and minimize exposure for 24 hours to allow the nervous system time to adjust.

  • Everyone responds differently to the treatment. Some experience fatigue immediately following and others don't experience any side effects.

  • Future visits will focus on addressing additional sensitivities and desired outcomes based on your individual needs.
